In a recent episode of the Iowa Tech podcast, host Kaylee Williams interviewed Levi Rosol, the CEO and founder of We Write Code. Levi, who has over 20 years of experience in the tech industry, shared insights about his career journey and the evolution of his company. Initially, Levi’s company focused heavily on startups due to his network and background, but over the years, We Write Code has shifted to working with more enterprise-level clients while maintaining a passion for startups through mentorship.

Levi recounted his involvement with Goodsmith’s, a marketplace for handmade goods akin to Etsy, which he co-founded with James Eliason. Despite its initial success, the company closed after a few years. He emphasized the importance of networking and community involvement, highlighting how the startup ecosystem in Des Moines has evolved from its nascent stages. Levi also talked about his path after Goodsmith’s, which included a brief stint in real estate and a break from startups to recharge, ultimately leading to the creation of We Write Code after a layoff.
