Understanding the nuances and undercurrents in the workforce can be vital in building workforce development momentum, retaining employees and creating a culture that breeds innovation, efficiently. Workplace surveys and focus groups come in many shapes and sizes. However, asking the right questions, and eliminating biases, are hard to achieve.

Reworc delivers an industry-leading workforce and workplace assessment. The resulting actionable insights drive performance. For the third year, the company is conducting its Workforce Trends & Occupancy Study for downtown DSM. Lean in this week with host Leisa Fox – sitting down with VP of Analytics Stephen Smith on the Iowa Manufacturing Podcast.

Facilitating business starts with understanding the needs of every team, and the interactions between parts of the organization. When opinions are replaced by carefully crowdsourced feedback about how people organize to work, the data becomes a source of business intelligence and future strategy.

An Introduction to Reworc

In a post-virus economy, what’s the data on the “future of work” saying about opportunities for Des Moines area business leaders and employees – and beyond the metro?

Reworc was started 10 years ago on the premise of crowdsourcing information to build a better workforce, faster. The company harnesses and studies analytical profiles based on collaborative sets of data, working primarily with corporate entities and other organizations in industries ranging from manufacturing to upper education, government, and everything in-between.

Smith’s company believes in quantifying and visualizing the skills gaps and other challenges, and turning data into actionable strategies. As work becomes increasingly knowledge-based, even manufacturing demands more than repetitive tasks – requiring the right balance of automation, delegation, upskilling and closing of the skills gap, he said.

Oftentimes leaders in the organization are left to “use their gut” in determining which strategies, initiatives and programs will have the greatest impact on the culture. Reworc, with locations in the Netherlands, Sweden and Des Moines have developed modules that work seamlessly together to see work in action, create future scenarios for planning, and design the most effective workplace solutions to support growth.

They help organizations – from discovering the needs of employees in a proven and psychologically safe way – to helping manage their workplace portfolio by providing cutting-edge analytics.

Analyze Local Insights: The Data

Many interesting dynamics were discovered, including the fact that downtown Des Moines is a multigenerational residential destination for two distinctly different populations – 20 somethings and 60 somethings.

It goes without saying that those two demographics have entirely different needs and demand greatly diverse amenities. With the right data and facts, though, Des Moines is able to understand the reality and plan for strategies that serve the greatest needs and opportunities.

Discover Results:

Reworc is conducting its Workforce Trends & Occupancy Study for downtown Des Moines for the third consecutive year. Filled with data, the results for the 2022 study can be found on the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s website here.

Planning is underway for the next survey and we will host leadership on this show to analyze the results. For more information, please contact Stephen Smith at stephen@reworc.com or go to www.reworc.com.
