Rod and Amy Murphy have taken a leap of faith and decided to begin a business from something Rod has been doing for many years: making barbecue. When Rod was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, he realized why his blood sugar was spiking. The rubs he was using were loaded with sugar. This inspired him to make rubs with and without sugar. “I want to make something that everyone can enjoy,” says Rod.

With Rod mixing up the rubs and Amy doing the business and marketing side, Mad Murphy’s Meat Rub was born. This five week old business out of Saylor Township, Iowa has something for everyone’s palate. From the “Sweet and Spicy” to the “Cock-a-Doodle Woo”, you can purchase their rubs from their online store and add flavor to all of your proteins. They even have a new rub for this deer season called “A Million Bucks”.
As they are mixing up rubs that people have been enjoying for years, they have one main source of inspiration: their faith. On the logo that Amy created, the bible verse of 1 Corinthians 10:31 appears. “Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”.
Currently, you can choose from any one of ten delicious rubs, but this husband and wife team are ready to take on the challenge of making more, but never losing sight of keeping true to themselves and their product.
